Lag, so much lag

My tablet z has bad scrolling lag, which makes browsing the web or finding apps on google play very tedious. Although, strangely enough, my homescreen is as smooth as butter. Anyone else have this issue, or a solution to it?

Have you tried using another browser like Firefox or Dolphin Browser? I've also noticed that scrolling in Chrome is not that smooth.

The scrolling (in browser) depends on how heavy the web page is.

If there are a lot of elements in the web page then it will consume a lot of memory and not fit entirely in the RAM memory allocated to the the browser, thus when you scroll up and down the OS will have to retrieve memory pages from somewhere (eg: swap). This makes it slower. Not to mention the CPU time needed to render all those elements.

That's why scrolling in home screen is super fast: those icons don't use a lot of memory.

Your PC may be slow too to scroll certain things, tablet is the same, you can't ask for it to perform miracles Slightly_smiling_Face

I too found chrome to be laggy on scrolling until I noticed that WebGL is disabled by default on the android version of chrome. After I enabled that things seemed to improve.

To enable WebGL for android chrome enter "chrome://flags/" in the address box, then select "Enable WebGL Android" and relaunch the browser. You can test if it's working by trying out the demos at http://www.chromeexperiments.com/webgl.

I assume that this should unleash the full power of the bravia engine now within chrome.. Could someone from Sony confirm this?

UPDATE: I just tried some of those demos and it's definitely experimental.. But I found it helped the scrolling!!
