Somebody please clarify my doubts regarding features of KITKAT update which are provided on our Xperia phones and what is mentioned on the GOOGLE's website: http://www.android.com/versions/kit-kat-4-4/
Here I upload some pictures snipped from above mentioned website on which I request for clarification:
When we were not able to modify contents on our memory cards we were told that its due to inbuilt security constraint of KITKAT. But all of the above features are also inbuilt in KITKAT. but we aren't getting them. Yes some features like immersive mode and other are given for which I appreciate.
When you are adapting an OS, adapt it fully. Right now It just feels like you have a Latest DELL XPS laptop with Windows 8.1 OS but with Windows XP interface and without Tiles.
And also post first update the overall mobile performance was worst. Camera after second update is still facing lots of criticism. I feel camera performance with JB was COMPARABILY BETTER than Kitkat, But was never upto the mark. Grainy, noisy... let it be any in mode.
Hence I again humbly request SONY to give appropriate and acceptable clarification on the issue raised by me and provide future updates with all above said features and """PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS AND ADDITIONAL FEATURES FOR CAMERA""". And please release updates only after testing it rigorously so that ""KITKAT's first update scenario"" may not occur in future.
1. Ok google does work if you are on google now, ok google, will work all over if you are using a nexus phone or motorola phone.
2. I don't have a chromecast to test this feature, but if anyone else has a chromecast, do test it
3. faster multitasking it is there, I don't know if you haven't noticed but it is there, and if you want to improve your phone's performance just re-install the latest update, it will smooth things out
4. each OEM has its own phonebook/contacts, you can go to hangout settings and include SMS
Ok..
1. so in this context Nexus is the winner.. and we the owner of Sony mobile are loosers...
2. Who told you that for this feature "cromecast" is required?? totally wrong concept.. my friend has Nexux tab and i had checked his lock screen showing album art in fullscreen...
3. Sorry I didn't felt any difference in JB and KITKAT which is notable for a common man type customer..
Ok can u tell me pros of KITKAT over JB for a Sony Xperia customer.. Dont mention "performance improvements" as its just a joke for we customers.... "Cloud printing" none of my use.... Any Others enhancements???
4. Ok I'm satisfied with Contacts and messaging app..
5. What about the caller id??? Why you hadn't clarified abt this one??
6. 1 point I'ld add.. My friend's MOTO G takes SHARPER and VIVID pics than my Xperia Z1. Now please dont suggest me to reinstall or repair my phone software coz its not the solution to this problem.. tried and tested.. So all what I can do is request you and your technical and software developement team to look into the matter and sort it out..
7. I suggest (Actually I should demand...) that we should be given the next OS upgrade Android Lollipop (or whatever comes...) when google launches.. Since this one is really disaster for we Xperia customers..
It all seems fine to me...the things you speciically mention are actually all present (oh except this 'smart caller ID' or whatever they are calling it...but is it possible that its a feature not available globally? Only in the US or something like that?)
Anyway, I havea few devices with a few different versions of Android right now (not to mention friends devices I can compare to) and there is no doubt that KitKat is running smoother and with better built in functions than any that came before.
Even if it isnt as light on resources, its the actual form and effect that counts, not that its using a few MB less RAM or whatever (obvs this IS important if you are running KitKat on a device with less than adequate specs..but since this is in the Xperia forum..you probs arent xD)
I dont know....Im loving it personally...my Phone hasnt had as much as a stutter since I got it, and everything works just fine.
I wonder sometimes what people expect, that will actually make them happy : D
All I can say is that the Xperia Z1 with Android Kit Kat is easily the best phone Ive ever had (probsa Motorola RAZR was the last phone I really really liked...years ago..so Im pretty hard to please as well!)...and Im sure anyone can point out all these little discreet differences with other devices and Android versions....but they are usually far to subtle for me to care about : P
Get a nexus, i am staying with my Z1 love it to bits.
If you had such problems you should have changed your phone.
Bt I am happy with mine and I think so that sony is best.
Also you cat compare Nexus with Sony.
They have other features Sony has other features.
So if you are talking about drawbacks of sony you should also talk about its good things.
