KitKat Not saving to SD and write protecting SD

Hi All,

I'm on Kitkat 4.4.2 on build 757

I can't save any photos or videos to the SD card. ("could not save" error appears) (only internal storage works)

The 64gb is showing only 29gb available. It is exFat formatted and it should work.

Media Go copies music to the phone with no error message but then it never appears on the phone.

What should I do?

Thanks in advance

Apparently, KitKat made something to the SD card. I cannot format or write anything at all on the SD card, and when I put it on the card reader I can't even format it because it says write protected.

Any help?

This does not happen on my Z1.You cannot transfer to SD the media?

Has to do with external storage (microsd card) write restriction build in Kitkat Android and newer.

In the past too much people are complaining about not properly working apps and functions, but they are too stopid to realize that they deleted files on microsd that where in use by those apps/functions.

So google decided to limit the freedom of microsd card useage. So you have only write access on microsd if a app has that setting build in for their created directory on the microsd card.

So say thank you to the stupid (not reading manual or use forumsearch to help themselves) and complaining people.

This topic is already discussed here when kitkat came out on our Z1's. The solution is known.

I have the same problem on Xperia Z C6603. MicroSD card SanDisk 64GB has exFAT file system and card is completely unusable. It cannot be written on the card in phone and in PC too. Format in Win7 don't work. It says 'Windows was unable to complete the format.' Please help me, I can't do anything with SD card.

Use a low level format tool and reformat it to exFAT.Z1 should support that.
