Jelly Bean Update 6.2.B.1.96 for the UK

Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the 6.2.B.1.96 update has been fully rolled out yet. It's been two months now and I still haven't received it.

In particular I'm looking for the update for the SI 1257-3921-R3H (UK Generic)

I've emailed sony customer support a couple of times a few weeks ago. The first message they ignored and the second one, they sent a stock reply (written for Ice Cream Sandwich) that basically says it will be available when it's available.

I know I can flash the update, but I would like to avoid that if possible.

Normally I wouldn't be too bothered, but the battery drain since the 200 update is shocking.

i have the sim free uk version and couldnt wait for the .96 update, so i flashed it to the .96 software and it has vastly improved the operation of the phone. It also doesn't  invalidate the warrenty as its a sony approved software. very easy to do aswell. plenty of videos etc online telling how to do it.

Can you give us some pointers mate cos although the details are all over the net i would rather know which firmware someone downloaded that i know works rather than just downloading one blindly.

Here are the links I used for the .96 software update that works fine for me.

http://www.xperiaguide.com/2013/08/23/xperia-sslacro-s-6-2-b-1-96-firmware-rolled-major-update-fixed...

Here also is a link that will help with how to flash the phone and where to download the flash tool etc.

http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-S-SL-acro-S/How-to-manually-update-root-downgrade-2012-Xperias/...

Hope you find these useful. Like I say the software update works fine for me but may not mean it'll be fine on your xperia s.

What is going on with the Jelly Bean 6.2.B.1.96 update ???

It's nearly 3 months now and STILL it isn't being offered to my phone (UK, generic, 1257-3114) Anguished_Face

I'm effectively stuck on ICS as 6.2.B.0.200 is well known to be bug ridden and virtually unusable.

I'm glad I got the S some time after launch and therefore it didn't cost that much, if i'd paid the launch price I would be seriously annoyed Angry_Face

Seriously Sony, sort it out, is it really that hard to release an update that ALREADY EXISTS ???

There is a strange and ridiculous problem in update:

I did face this problem  2 months ago as you all stated, and finally someone in my country (Turkey) told everyone at the Facebook page of Xperia of my country that to get 6.2.B.1.96, you must have 6.2.B.0.211. Since some devices does not get this update, the phones doesn't get the 6.2.B.1.96. I flashed my phone to 6.2.B.0.211 and then i see the 6.2.B.1.96 on PC Companion.

I announce here to all that if you stuck at 6.2.B.0.200, there is no other way but TO FLASH THE PHONE TO 6.2.B.0.211 and GET THE 6.2.B.1.96 FIRMWARE FROM PC COMPANION, or FLASH TO 6.2.B.1.96 DIRECTLY. The update will not reach to you unless you have 6.2.B.0.211. This must be a problem to some of the generic devices.(Maybe all, i don't know who has this problem).

BTW, i mailed Sony about this, and they said the updates can differ from region and carrier and it will come soon. I'm at Turkey, you at UK, we dont have the update, so this is not a region or carrier difference Sony, and i flashed my phone because you didn't give me the update.

Well what you were told it a load of rubbish - When you flashed to .211 manually using a .FTF file you will have changed your customization number which is what PCC and SUS read when determining if a firmware update is available - So by doing what you did you changed this number thus PCC or SUS determined that there was an update for you this is not based on your SI Number but the customization number found by dialing *#*#7378423#*#* then going to Service info then Software info

What you said is true, but im saying that we need to flash to 0.211 because THERE WILL BE NO UPADTE FOR OUR CUSTOMIZATION NUMBER. Yes i changed the customization number, and i'm aware of it, and that's the only way i found to get the 1.96.

Theres no need to flash .211 you flash straight to .96 using the .FTF file from my links below
