JB update- Wifi Problem Fixed

hey all,

everyone who has updated to the latest JB Update recently, and are facing wi-fi connectivity issue, here's a solution

(worked on xperia S and SL)

its Simple, Manually assign an IP address.

follow these steps:

* Search for WLAN netwroks

* tap the name of the desired network

* type the password

* check the "show advanced setting" box

     (now, you'll have more options if you scroll down)

* Under Proxy Settings

     (None)

*IP Settings

     STATIC (change it from dhcp to static)

     now type the ip address of your network manually, along with gateway address.

     Network Preface Lenght is just your Subnet Mask(24 for me)

     DNS server 1 is always 8.8.8.8 (except if your network has its own dns)

     no need for DNS server 2

*Click On Connect

your wi-fi will work instantly.

Post here if you still face problems connecting.

Regards,

Nitin

I believe that there is another option.

Under Wifi Advanced settings you can disable the option "Avoid poor connections" (this will keep the connection with the router/hotspot even with a low signal):

I hope it can help those are able to find Wifi connections with low signal.

I have a strong wifi signal but intermittently we loose wifi. Phone still shows a strong signal with the data transfer arrows flashing. The only way I have found to fix the issue is to restart the phone. Would would turning on the Auto IP support button work to help solve the problem? Our phones are new (xperia e4) and our router has been checked that it is fully up to date.
