JB update is causing problems to 2G internet

JB update is causing problems to 2G internet and i ran the update again, but the problem still persists.
it's driving me crazy.
plz gimme a solution

I am also having similar issue after updating my SL to 4.1.2. Although it is shown as connected in 2G mode, applications are showing as time out. But its working once it picks up the 3G signal. I tried different modes "GMS only", "WCDMA (preferred)/GSM" and different APN setting, no use and this was working till last friday just before the update.
