Issues with T9/Predictive text

Hi all,

I am an Xperia P user currently on JB. I have been using the T9 (also known as phonepad on the Xperia P) text input since I was on ICS and it worked very well. However, I realised that after I updated to JB a month ago, I have an issue adding new words to the 'dictionary'/'my words' which is a crucial function for a T9 text input especially since I often used non-standard english when texting.

I have tried doing a factory reset and interestingly this seems to solve the problem i.e. I can now add new words. H

However once I restore my data from the PC, the issue comes back and I am no longer able to add words.

Could anyone help me out here?

I have a few possible hypotheses,

1. There is a word limit to the number of new words you can add to 'dictionary'/'my words'

2. There is a bug related to jb or my backed uped data

3. I am not adding new words properly/correctly

Would greatly appreciate any help out there! Including suggestions for T9 keyboard apps (have not found a decent one).

update your jellybean software to the latest firmware..its bug free..

Ok already did, have also cleared all all the previous entries saved in 'my words' will monitor. Also do you know if its only possible to add words in 'message' or you can add words while typing on other apps like browser or whatsapp? It seems to only work on 'message'.

You can try to add words by tilt your phone in landscape mode so you get the QWERTY keyboard. Then write the word you want to add and press on it in the list above the keyboard.

It's also possible that the backup causes the problem you experiencing.

ok problem is intermittent, sometimes the new word can be added sometimes it cannot.

hmm interesting suggestion Alexander thanks!, seems to work but it still cannot add words that consist of 2 letters or characters. Major Bugbear

I dont agree with you my friend you have mention that latest JB update (i.e I think 4.1.2 with buit number 6.2.A.1.100) still has that notification tone notworking bug.
