Issues after ICS Update to Neo V

1. Performance lag is there although I have removed many apps and Internal memory as well as RAM available is more than what it was earlier. Any suggestions?

2. Apps crash. The most worrysome is the scenario when you are not able to receive a call because concerned app is crashed. After that no trace of call so you can not even call back. This has happened couple of times after update on 25th April.

3. Today morning I used camera with smile detection on. Camera kept clicking pictures after detecting the smiles. Auto click was off. Any one else faced this problem?

4. In ICS, you can not do screen capture by pressing power button? I read some where to use Power button & volume down button simultaneously. However it some times works, most of the time does not. Any suggestion.

Hi Nabeel,

Thanks for your suggestions. I have removed more apps based on your screen shots. I have retained email app (I use it to see my hotmail & Yahoo mail) as well as status switch which gives me access to battery condition, wifi, blue tooth etc. Do you use other apps for this purpose?

You have not replied to my query on anti virus which you stated was harmful to mobile while Sony also bundles an anti virus. Kindly give your views.

I restored AntHalService.apk based on yr suggestion but what this app is for?

I hope I will be better off now and will enjoy ICS more,

Antivirus uses a lot of ram, kind of esablishes it's root in whole of the device, it tries to control each and every app, it makes your device and web browsing slow, ( because it checkes/scans each and every move of apps etc. ) As a result it decreses battery backup ( life too) it interferes with other app, including system apps, which in long run results in harm to your mobile ( hardware wise )

Sony gave a MCafee antivirus, even thats not good, it made my device terribly slow, but its better when compared to other antivirus, ( my opinion ) ,,

Why sony gave , i don't know

regarding anthalservice, its an app that works with the mobile's radio/call receiver antenna

Now i'll be able to reply after three days ( Sat Sun Mon off for me )

Hi Nabeel,

Since 4.0.4 update is available thru OTA. I tried.

I got the notification. Downloaded on wifi. Installation supposed to have been completed but after restart when lock screen appears, I get a notification that phone could not be updated try later. Tried three times with same result. What could be the issue? I am on 4.0.3 and phone is rooted with bootloader locked.

Is it because the phone rooted? But I remember you mentioning that rooting does not affect firmware updating.

Rooting does not affects updating...

The problem could be the firmware..

I thinl you should update it through pc companion or sus

Hi Nabeel,

But this update is not available thru PC Companion or SUS. It is only thru OTA. Based on my previous interactions I have updated from GB to 4.0.3 using SUS and after rooting & removing bloatware, I have started enjoying the firmware. There is absolutely no problem with firmware. Do you think putting back bloatware or factory reset will help?

Have you updated your phone to 4.0.4?

I am on GB , as i am a hardcore gamer and games crash a lot on ICS , so there is no reason for me to be on ICS :smileywink::smileygrin:

All my friends ( rooted mobiles ) have update OTA, If you are not able to update ota means it could be a problem with the firmware,

Currently there is a problem with the firmware the servers, wait for 2-3 days and it should get fine by that time

Finally worked. Did factory data reset (setting reset did not work) before updating. Now adding apps once again.
