I just wanted to pick your collective brains about an issue I'm having with my Xperia J.
A few weeks ago, the phone started to display 'white noise' occassionally when I used the power button to return from standby. However, whenever I pressed the touchscreen, the screen would revert to its normal state.
Then, after a while, the screen started to play up a bit more. When I resumed from standby, the screen would remain black. However, the touchscreen would still be sensitive (I could hear the phone unlock, apps activate, etc. despite the screen remaining black - I could even answer calls if I pressed the screen in the right place!). The weird thing was, if I pressed the power button to put it back into standby, and then resume from standby a second time, it would be fine.
This went on for a little while, where essentially I would have to resume, standby, and then resume again to get the phone working normally.
Finally, the black screen became a permenant issue. Whenever I resumed from standby, the screen stayed black, regardless of how many times I turned it off and on again.
Of course, I've powered down, removed the battery, charged the phone, removed the memory and sim card, performed a 'reset' by holding the power button and volume up button, etc. and updated the phone software, etc. - but none of this has helped.
Finally, as a last resort, I did a partial disassembly of the phone, so far as removing all of the visible screws and taking off the battery compartment cover (the silver bit) and guess what? When I put it together again, the phone worked!
So why am I posting?
Well, this 'fix' only lasted for about twelve hours before the screen completely blacked-out again.
So again, I did the same disassembly and again, it works.
Obviously I'm waiting for the screen to die again now, but in the meantime was wondering if anyone else had had this issue, or whether anyone had any idea what might cause it?
