Install Android kitkat 4.4.4 for Xperia L
I was blady tired of the stupid bugs and incompetancy on Sony part to release a decent update or fix the bugs. Therefore I went ahead and installed CyanogenMod 11.
CyanogenMod is a free, community built distribution of Android 4.4 (KitKat) which greatly extends the capabilities of your phone.
Here is the link to the forum and a video to help you, however do note that it requires initermediate technical knowledge and lot of research.
Note: You must Root your phone, unlock bootloader and install this ROM. This will void your warranty.
I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards.

Note: instead of installing the Android SDK you can use Flash tool

Hi
It’s not easy but you will need to do some research but believe me the effort is worth it.
You will need to download a few tools namely flashtool the rom from cyanogenmod and also take a backup of the sony stock rom.
- You will need to first root your device using Vroot
- Then unlock the bootloader by following the instructions below. (The fourth link)
- Once you unlock the bootloader the phone will be stuck in a bootloop, so you will need to flash the rom i mean the phone is stock rom, follow the link below to know how to do so.
- Then you need to flash the cyanogenmod rom and the google apps.
The links below have the video descriptions and link to the XDA Forum.

I installed CM 11 after following the instructions of the XDA web site. I could not get CM12.1 to run without it constantly bringing up a "email has stopped working" box. CM11 works fine for most things except my work google account.
I can sign into my personal google account fine, but my corperate google account with my diary, contacts etc requires the sign-in to redirect me to a web page at the university to complete the sign in, this doesn't happen, it just re-starts the account set-up.
I think this in the end will kill CM for me as I need to have my work diary running on this phone.
If you do not have this requirement, to login twice for a corperate google account, I would recommend CM11. It is stable, much faster than the Jellybean and has some nice mods and widgets. I'm sure there is some way to hack the android files to set this up manually, but I'll need to dig around to find it and currently I've not got the time.
I installed the unoffical taoshan but I'm going to try the kitkat at XDA via fxp
