Hi
My E5 just switched off yesterday and since turning it on it does not accept my unlock screen pin.
Is there a way around this without formatting the phone please?
Hi @yolande, welcome to our forum!
I'm sorry to hear about your phone.
Do you know if you have enabled the My Xperia service in your phone?
If you have that service enable you can try and use that service to set a new screen lock on your phone so you won't have to reset it.
Go to myxperia.sonymobile.com and log in with your Google account.
At the bottom of the page when your device has found you will find a button with the text "Lock" > press on it and follow the instructions on the screen.
If the My Xperia service is not enabled in your phone you can try to use Android device mananger and set a new screen lock using this service, this will require a Google account.
Go to https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager and log in with the Google account that is added in your device. You will now see a button once again that is called "Lock" press on it and follow the instructions.
If neither of the above works or if you don't have a Google account in your phone I'd recommend performing a software repair using Xperia Companion. This will delete all the data that is stored on the internal storage.
Let me know how it went!
