Which build number are your running on?

Do you have many third party app/processes running in the background?

UK ICS (.453) has done this since its release 4 months ago yet it was fine on Gingerbread. A phone as powerful as the Xperia S should not be struggling to play MP3s no matter what is running in the background. Besides Android would shut down any process or application should the resources be required.

Even my Pentium 100MHz with 32MB of RAM  from when god was a lad could manage to play MP3s stutter free so Sony have messed up badly somewhere.

build number is 6.1.A.2.45

runing android 4.0.4

I am running basic apps like facebook, whats app, viber n bunch of google apps(unwanted) in the backgroud.. but again as mentioned below as well by MrBelter that a dual core phone should be able to handle atleast normal stuff...

now as i have resotred the phone to factory settings have encountered another issue.. after importing the contacts previously backed up on the internal storage they dont appear in contacts... i have tried again and again but failed..

please give me a solution...

Yes, the hardware of Xperia S can cope with several processes running in the background, but one badly encoded app can be enough to cause problems. I therefore suggest that you check if this problem can be replicated on the phone running without any third party app's installed. I have tried to replicate this on a completely stock Xperia S and not been able to hear any playback problems.

If you're not able to replicate it either you can try to install your app's again one by one to check if you can find the app the might be causing the conflict.

Well everyone on .453 can replicate it by just playing music then doing something else on the phone, it is a widely recognised bug, music was perfect on GB.

The only thing badly coded is the poor firmware Sony have dumped on us.

My daughter bought a SIM free Xperia S after seeing mine earlier this year and she is not technically minded in anyway and she came to Xperia from an iPhone. All she ever says is Dad i love this phone but when are Sony going to fix the black screen after a call, dad when are they going to fix this music skipping thing, dad when are they going to fix the data stopping working, dad when are they going to fix the bluetooth audio.

Sony should stop blaiming the users and the app writers and hold their hands up that they have made a mess of the Xperia S.

I think there is a proplem with you stock browser , just go to setting -app - running _browser and disable it , and then install chrome from matket as it's the default browser in jelly beans
