in line remote control

I recently bought some ear phones with in line controls. It's made for andriod and it works except I want the controls to open spotify rather than Walkman. Even when spotify is already on, if I use the remote it will turn on Walkman and pause spotify. How can I make spotify the default app? Thanks

As far as I know, if Spotify is an running application the remote should control Spotify. But if it's closed, it will choose the Walkman-application instead since this is the standard app which cannot be changed.

If you barely use the Walkman-application, you can always try to disable it via Settings > Apps > The tab "All" > Walkman > Disable, to see if this may help.
