ICS and kernel version?

Hello Sony ericsson,

As per the sony ercsson ICS alpha video the android version is 4.0.1, but if you look in the android official website they have released the android 4.0.3.

SO my Question is what version of android ICS we will be getting is it 4.0.1 or 4.0.3

The same goes for kernel version it seems that sony is still using the old kernel which is 2.6.32.9 but google has released the kernel 3.0 so want to know what exactly we will be getting?

Please answer the question soon.

Thanks and regards.

Google said that Android 4.0.3 will be the standard that will/should be released with other manufacutrers

regarding kernel, we will get the same kernel, you can read about it here

according to SE is so we, users, can get ICS sooner than having to wait for them to debug a new kernel, but we have to wait until late April, how is that soon(er) Dizzy_Face

Dahlström said that the main reason the kernel will remain unchanged is that Sony Ericsson wanted to release ICS as quickly as possible. Here’s what he had to say over at xda-developers: “It is rather quick to get a new kernel up and running, but it takes a lot of testing and validation to make it stable and run with the modem, get a good battery performance etc. Quite some effort has been put in to the Sony Ericsson 2.6.32 kernel, to make it as stable and reliable as possible for the 8255 platform, and we do not feel that the user benefit of a new kernel would justify a later release date.

WTF so sony ericsson xperia mini will never get the new kernel as per sony is that sony wants to say.:smileyangry:

there are two ways to look at this

1) they want to release ICS sooner than it will be to get a new kernel, but come on, we will get it until late April? that's not SOON at all. and then they will release a new kernel w/ a future update.

or

2) we will be stuck on this kernel and SE will claim that the user experience is the same or better than with a new kernel, this is what they said about android 2.1 on the X10 regarding 2.2 or 2.3, they said that 2.1 was better than 2.2, that was irritating, and it sucks that they the X8, X10 mini, X10 mini pro, W8 stuck on 2.1 and the X10 stuck with a buggy 2.3.3.

and now the new Xperias are obsolete, even before their release. the 2012 Android generation will have Quad-Core CPU (2012 Xperias 1.5dual-core), better displays than a LCD, they will have 12mp so they will match Sony on that, etc, etc. We'll have to wait and see, I expect announcements at MWC 2012 in a month (late february)
