ICS (4.1.B.0.587) signal lost: issue

I bought an xperia mini 3 days ago that had an android 2.3.4 version (4.0.2.A.0.62).

As soon as I connected the phone to pc companion it ask me to upgrade to new 4.0.4 ICS (4.1.B.0.587).

I know that android 4.0.4 have a bug related to a random signal lost during deep sleep. I found this bug on my xperia mini and I downgrade to 2.3.4 android version.

Someone have news on this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Bye.

Daniele.

It is possible that noone have the same problem on ICS 4.0.4?

I always have more than 20% of no signal on Xperia mini.

I think I found some similar problem description on XDA-developers (I don't remember exactly where, probably somewhere in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1867828), but - luckily - I am not experiencing anything like that. Are you sure that this is a signal loss and not a spontaneous reboot?

How did you upgrade to 4.0.4? I use SONY Update Service (SUS) with fatory reset option. I trust this method more than the upgrade With PCCompanion, because the whole process with SUS is done while the phone is switched off - this should elliminate any possible resource conflits or access violation problems while upgrading.

Hi Gloryfyday,

thanks for your answer.

I am sure that it is not a reboot.

My problem is more similar to this:

http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=28133

In order to verify this issue I use no signal alert that advice me when the phone lost the signal, and, when the signal came back.

I see now... so the problem is deeper than I thought...

Bad news :-(.

Do you have an xperia mini?

Don't you have strange behavior of signal graph?

I am using 4.04 (587) for a long time but I didn't noticed nothing strange about signal.

The only problem  related to signal is when the phone is rebooted , it automaticaly switch to 3g  mode. In this mode the signal in not so good here and as I don't need 3g I have to switch manualy to 2g network mode (GSM only).

As this seems to happen independent of manufacturer I suggest that you continue this discussion in the code.google thread above.

Thanks m4dj and Johan,

Yes, sure I can continue this discussion on code.google but I think that google resolved this issue in a new release (4.1.x). As I saw in the net is not possible to solve this issue without a new release.

Furthermore, I made other test for you and it seems that is only a reporting issue because of, if the phone lost the signal during deep sleep, there is no signal come back reporting until the phone don't leave the deep sleep mode.

What so you think, Johan?

Someone can reproduce this?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I hadn't much time to examine the Android issue. What to look for on a graph?
