righty first of i want to know if if i flash my Sony xperia u with the french ics by doing it the offical way how would i go about doing as i don't wanna brick my phone and would i still in term get official updates from sony themselfs

secondly should i just wait for ics to become available in my country which could take along time seeing as before i had an xperia ray and that took a long time to come but yet as i've been reading the xperia rays are still waiting for it

thirdly do unlocked xperia u's get the updates alot faster as they dont require any network approvales

confirmed...i'm in ireland (dublin) with O2 phone unlocked SI 1262-0734 and no ICS yet. i read O2 was testing it, but since i'm unlocked, do i have to wait for them?

I'm a little confused too as im on o2 however my phone im pretty sure is unlocked as several others have same SI number 1262-0728 and are on different networks, i bought my phone on contract through carphone warehouse where you can get this handset on many networks so im guessing mine is unlocked. There was no software on there relating to o2. Also bagged a free lap top on my contract too which is a bonus.

No i bought it from a shop which deals with several different networks/carriers so i believe the phone is unlocked to any network and then they give you whichever network/carrier you choose. In other words the phone is available in the shop on several networks   (Orange, T-mobile, Talk Mobile, o2 etc) and i chose O2 network on the tarriff i requested O2 on and on.

There are several people on here that have the same SI number on different networks one is on Talk Mobile another is on Orange that i know of but the SI is same as mine.

it seems that in the UK updates must be approved by carriers even with unlocked phones

but in order to get the udpdate, do i just have to connect the phone to PCC or do i have to use SUS?

unlocked O2? you have to wait for O2 to approve the update or manually update

i mean, i unlocked the phone using the code that o2 gave to me, so now i can use all the sims i want...but the phone is still with o2 apps and pictures when turned on and off...so should i still wait for o2 to approve the software or i am free??
