I hate my new Xperia X Compact after a few weeks of use...
1. The vibration is insane on this phone. It is loud, it is slow to catch up. For example, if I enable it as haptic feedback for the keyboard, it is so loud and uncomfortable. Also, when multiple notifications arrive at the same time, it sounds like it is vibrating non-stop causing people to look at my phone. Not cool, please tone it down a bit Sony or at least give us some options so that people who like it can still use it like this but people who don't like it can adjust it. As of now, it feels like a cheap vibrator motor from 2007 era phones.
2. Auto brightness. It's useless, sorry. It dims WAY too much even in a well lit room. So much that I can't read the screen anymore. If I manually turn it up, it automatically goes back to 0 again.
3. BLOAT. This phone harrasses me with notifications almost daily from Sony apps. And what's up with preinstalled apps like Facebook, Amazon Shopping, AVG Antivirus and Kobo Ebooks? My phone is Benelux Customized, I would expect some Sony apps but not this crap which I can't uninstall! Heck, the Facebook app drains my battery a lot and I don't even have a Facebook account. Disabling is not really a solution isn't it? I want them REMOVED from my phone.
4. Touch response. I am not sure wether my screen is defective or not, but in my opinion, the touchscreen is not sensitive enough. Sometimes when typing fast, the phone can't seem to keep up or it mistakes two taps for a swipe. It's really annoying. It especially gets bad wen STAMINA is enabled. I guess STAMINA reduces touch performance for power savings, but it makes the issue really obvious.
5. Double tap to wake only works when holding the phone in hand. So for me this feature is pretty much useless. I use DTTW to check for notifications when the phone is laying flat on the table, but as it is now it doesn't work correctly.
Should I send my phone in? Because I can't imagine this is how it is supposed to be from a 2016 Sony phone...
1. Unfortunately there is no way to adjust the vibration intensity. I think the main cause of this is that they use the same vibration module as the bigger devices even the the device is smaller. The only alternative is to disable haptic feedback if this causes inconvenience to you.
2. You can disable adaptive brightness on settings - display
3. When they are disabled it won't give you notifications so that is your only option. Unless you want to root your phone and void your warranty.
4. Try to see if the glove mode is activated. Put your device on #safemode and see if this is present. Or you can have your device checked at your local service center #localsupport
5 with all the problems you are experiencing i suggest that you contact your local service center for repairs. https://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
There is indeed a way to reduce or increase vibrate/haptic feedback on the keyboard.
It is in the keyboard settings.
Easy to do.
1. Sounds plausible. Would still like Sony to add some options to change the duration/intensity of the vibration system-wide though. At least major keyboards let me adjust the intensity.
2. Yeah, that's a workaround but I would rather have it work correctly. So this is feedback to Sony: please fix it. It is broken as it is. Same for the double tap to wake, this also seems a bit broken.
3. I disabled the pre-installed bloatware, but they still take up storage unfortunately. I think it is really unethical to ship apps which can't be uninstalled but that's me I guess...
4. Glove mode is deactivated.
I will wait for Nougat to see if some things will be fixed, otherwise I will send it in or just sell the device to get something better for my money.
