Dear Sonymobile and All,
Background: I bought a Xperia XP on this month and there was a software on about 2 weeks ago. I found that the battery and data usage is abnormal after the update.
Abnormal detail: Battery drain avg about 8% per hour on the way to work place and home. The standardby time avg about 5% per hour on desk. Google service used about 200MB on 5 days (but I only used about 30MB on Chrome).
Device setting: Xperia XP with default google or app setting and MS word, excel, outlook and Whatsapp are installed. Default app sync setting. Alway on 3G data, Wi-Fi and GPS (just like my Xperia Z2 habit).
Device usage habit: about 10 - 15 mins usage per hour on web browsing and check email by outlook or whatsapp once arrived or alert 8:00 am to 7:00 pm, about 10 mins talk time a day (just like my Xperia Z2 habit).
Solutions tried but fail to solve: Hard reset and clear all data on the device serval times but situation have not improve yet. Wipe the cache with reboot but no any improvment. Connect to the local Sonymobile support who said "Please try the Xperia Companion to repair the firmware on the device" but I found that the existing Xperia Companion version does not support Xperia XP yet.
Overall feeling: The Xperia XP seems a battery monster which consumes the power by itself or google something. Actually I do not want to take photo by it because I am very worry about the battery stand by time. The battery performance is far away from my Z2 which consume about 10% standby per day and 2 day per charge (with my device usage habit).:smileyshocked:
So any one can help me?????
Open the Play store > settings > don't auto update apps
Open the Google Photos app > settings > backup > make sure it only back up while on WiFi.
Thanks uliwooly help
For play store setting, system default update via Wi-Fi only (I will try your suggestion).
For photo upload, I have never used this backup function and no photo are uploaded to my google account. On the other hand I took only about 10 photos on this month by my Xperia XP.
