How to Root Xperia C?

I understand that the bootloader can't be unlocked, but it's not what I need anyway. Just superuser access and the power to install root apps. Is there a way?

Apart from this thread on XDA here I have no idea how to root the C on a locked bootloader

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll give it a try once I have the confidence to. Slightly_smiling_Face

The method on XDA includes using a malicious software and members have confirmed this on the same thread there. Safer way to root is using Framaroot.

Please, does the use of Framaroot will erase the data of my phone?

Rooting erases all data. Do a backup before you root.

Thanks. Do you have some favourite app for backup?

http://www.titaniumtrack.com/kb/titanium-backup-kb/titanium-backup-howtos.html#backup-without-root Use this link. It's titanium backup, used a lot by those who are into rooting. But because you're not rooted yet, it requires the use of ADB. The tutorial will cover it.

After lot of deliberation, i finally took the plunge and rooted my device couple of days back.

Now, i can move any of the system apps (except for few like google play services, maps and couple of others) to SD card. Earlier i used to have free memory of around 250MB, but after rooting i am consistently having free memory of around 550MB.

Whoever is not under warranty period, i suggest you to root the device and then use it like any other high end mobile (except for camera resolution, which we cannot do anything).
