Hi,
I have deactivated background data under settings for my Xperia Z4 tablet tablet but I keep on getting this notification on the notification bar - background data restricted, Touch to remove restriction. This is annoying. Can someone tell me how to remove this notification from the notification bar without activating background data. Thank you
First you need to enable mobile data. Then go to settings - data usage and remove the limit.
Hi,
Thank you very much. I did just as you said but the problem still persist. My tablet is not rooted, it is on 6.0 marshmallow. Screen shot below.
I think you might have already crossed that limit. Can you try to enable it back and rise the limit bar?
It is still present after applying your suggestion.
Ok, I think I found the answer. Go to settings - data usage - tap on the 3 dots and allow background data should be there.

Thank you once again for answering. First of all, I restricted the background data myself as in your recent suggestion. I did that purely to save the amount of data consume by apps when apps are lying idle.
The problem is, I don't want to allow background data. I deactivated background data myself but don't want to see the notification. I was asking if there is a way to clear this (background data restricted) notification without activating background data under settings >data usage.
Tap longer on the notification, a small i simbol should be there, tap on it. It should bring you to a setting where you can block or hide sensitive content. But I believe this one is on the system itself, don't think you can block it.

Alright. I thought there was a way around. I believe this is Google's fault. Any way, I will still keep it restricted. Thanks again for your help.
if you long press on the notification there should be a bell symbol, click on that and the notification will be gone on 99.9% of all phones on marshmallow and lollipop. works on all 7 phones and about 14 roms i'm currently using regularly so chances are high that this works on your phone as well. can't test because don't own one but it's an android system feature.
