How to not get the "You have a new MMS to download" message

I have my phone set to automatically download MMS messages.  These seem to take a while to download, I won't get them until a few minutes later than everybody else.  It's a bit annoying, but I don't receive a lot of them, so I don't really care.

What I absolutely hate though is that I instantly get a "you have a new MMS to download" text as soon as the MMS starts downloading.  If I'm in a group conversation that message shows up in a separate conversation with the sender. Then, a few minutes later, I get another notification that is the actual MMS.

How do I stop getting the "You have a new MMS to download" messages and get only the MMS itself?

*Note, I'm using the default messaging app

1. Open the Messaging app
2. Menu
3. Settings
4. Advanced settings
5. Auto-retrieve should be on (Automatically retrieve MMS messages)

This will only work if you enabled data

There is no setting to disable this kind of message.

To my knowledge, what happens here is that your phone is informed that there is a new MMS message available which the phone then notifies you of and then the phone will once again notify you when the messages has been received and downloaded to the phone.

Indeed it works that way but it may be perceived as a step back comparing to feature phones which displayed that message only if immediate MMS download failed.
