How to insert special characters [è à ñ] when using keyboard?

When writing using the keyboard I can not seem to find the way to insert special characters [è à ñ], none are available when I click symbol key.

My dictionary is in spanish, but the phone main language is set to english; is this the problem?

If so, it should not be. Messaging should use dictionary and not phone language.

also, is there really a need for limiting character counts when using special characters? (YuS it needs more info, but doesn't the Standard for character representation take care of this)

Hi,

I actually have my phone in the same configuration as yours. I add accented characters by pressing and holding the symbol key, and then pressing the letter. Then I can cycle through all the different characters.

I don't understand your last question though, can you rephrase it?

I press the symbol key, but I do not get the options for special characters.

All I get are some symbols, and useless smileys

Oh, the last question is that when you use special characters such as [è à ñ] -your character limit per sms is decreased, to 70 I believe.

But, why? The limit should not be decreased if proper standards are used.

Hi,

If you tap (press and let go) of the symbol key, you'll get the icons you described. If you press and hold the symbol key and then press the character, you'll get a small pop-up a the bottom of your screen. Sorry if that wasn't clear before.

I'll escalate you're other question to see what I can find.

Thanks. I got it now.
