I recently had to send my Xperia S back to Sony, because it died on me after the last software update. Fortunately (or so I thought at the time) I had just done a backup and restore on Sony PC Companion, so I thought all my previous apps, settings and other data was safe.
Now I have tried to restore my previous data in backup and restore, but you don't seem to be able to restore, without doing a new backup, which has all the settings and stuff on it I don't want. So how does that work? If you back something up, surely it's because you want to be able to access it, without having it overwritten by something else?
You should be able to restore the backup to your phone without doing a new backup first.
Open backup and restore in PC Companion, mark the backup you want to restore in the box under the restore option > then press on 'restore'.
