How to end an application?

If we start an application which has no exit or quit button and if we just press the back button of our phone, we can go to the home but the application will remain running in the background, how to end that program?

The phone shuts down applications by itself partially, a little bit depending on what kind of app it is of course also.

Otherwise you can just press and hold the home key, the one in the middle of the three one's below the display, and you'll see a list of recently used apps. Just slide from left to the right, or vice versa, on one you'd like to shut down and it will be turned off.
