How to deactivate screen lock?

Hi All,

While trying to add VPN, it said you have to select screen lock pattern, so I selected PIN. Now, I want to deactivate it and revert to previous pattern of SWIPE TO UNLOCK. While in the menu, it shows that it is disabled by system administrator. Can you help me telling how I reactivate the SWIPE function?

It would be of tremendous help if you describe it step-by-step as I am not very much familier with these things! Flushed_Face

Thanks much for your help!

Settings > security > tap on pin lock > enter the pin > select swipe

Hi uliwooly,

Thanks for your reply.

I tried to go the way you said, but it didn't work. It looked like I was setting the PIN lock on. It asked me to enter pin, then re-enter the pin, and set! It came out of the menu where there is the option showing what screen lock is on your phone and it still shows PIN. The options 'None' and 'Swipe' are still shown as disabled by administrator.

I hope you understood what I did.

I may be missing something in doing or understanding your instructions as I am not very good with these things as I said previously. Will you please reconsider my question and explain in simple layman's terms?

Hi uliwooly,

Above is the screenshot. Please note that the first two options are still disabled by the administrator. I can change the screen locks in between pattern, pin, and passwords; but can't select swipe.

As an app protector, I have Smart AppLock (free version) to protect my contacts/phone dialer, SMS, and settings.

If you or anyone else now get the picture of what I was talking about, can you help me now?

Uliwooly,

You have been answering my queries and I'm thankful to that!

Yes, I tried removing the app, but still the problem persists. Can you tell me how to decrypt the phone for this function? I'm now really fed up with this phone and suddenly this problem occurred.

Any of your help is much appreciated.

Thanks again!

If you have enabled encryption in your phone you need to perform a master reset to remove it. You can do that from Settings -> Backup & reset -> Factory data reset.
