How stable are custom ROMs ?

What are the different between them and the standard roms ?
How are they made anyway ??

Depends on the ROM.

You should check them out on youtube and XDA.

That I can not answer. I can not do, because I never tried, but I am sure there are tutorials out there somewhere.

Checkout the devolopment section of the XS be careful when installing anything and makr sure it is for the XS.

It all depends on which ROM you run and how new it is.

Some have different features and designs. Alot is down to personal taste.

I ran MIUI for a while, until they stopped releasing updates for our phone. I had no isssues with it and really liked some of the features.

Also bear in mind that if you have a locked bootloader whilst you can root your phone, you will be limited to what you can install. (I don't think you can change your kernel with a locked bootloader)
