How do you turn on speakerphone?

 I needed to hear someone talk to me loud enough while looking up something on the phone for him. Which reuired speaker phone. I could not find any description how to activate the speaker phone in the Z3C PDF manual.

While on a call, you should be able to see a Speaker icon on the left side next to the mute

Is there a screenshot or drawing you could share or attach? I have never seen the mute or speaker symbol (probably, because the phone goes dark when I hold it to my ear).

Are you using the preloaded Phone app? because if you are, once you place the call you should be able to see the speaker icon and the mute/microphone icon

You mean the stock Xperia skin for phone use? That's what I use.
