Horrible battery life

i am having this phone for a month now and on average use my xperia sp phone's battery drains down to less than 15% in just 9-10 hours on just average usage.
even if my phones screen in off the battery charge decreases by 4-5% every hour even though screen is not awake with no background processes accept cellular services.
is everyone facing this problem?

9-10 hours its normal for an smartphone, now if you hardly use it but you have apps that use data or wifi then it will drain even faster

Try unselecting the 4G network, especially if you are not using it.

Try doing a factory reset. I had this problem ever since I bought the SP. I'd have all syncs off, no wifi, no data, no location reporting, uninstalled/disabled anything related to facebook and gmail and my battery would drain quickly when the screen was off. Did a factory reset last night and now the battery holds. I'm not sure if it will go bad again after a while but it's worth trying if you don't mind reinstalling all your apps. Just make sure all your contacts are backed up at the very least.
