Hi,
I'm owner of an Xperia V phone and a tablet Z.
I bought the cradle for the XV: okay but expensive for what it is, including shipping from Asia...
Now, I'm looking for one cradle for the XZ tablet, but I don't want to pay $$$s for that, nor to order it from Japan.
So, I'm thinking about building one by myself, possibly using the one of XV.
The question is: the cradle has 2 big connectors directly in contact with the device. Do you think that I can "burn" my device if I swap them when connecting to the XZ?
Thanks.
I wouldn't risk it
If you search the inet you'll find reports of people who built their own charging craddles.
Myself I'm looking into building just a connector for the side pins so that I can have the tablet powered *and* use the USB port at the same time, something that sadly this tablet doesn't allow and I used to rely on heavily (with my previous Acer Iconia A500).
yeah I know what you meant, of using the side pins, that's why I don't think it'll be a good idea, it will be easier to buy the Dock and cut a whole so the usb port its free.
jw, why do you want to use the USB? is it to transfer files? if so you could use bluetooth to do so
just a suggestion
I use my tablet extensively, I don't even need a laptop.
Thus the USB is the way I connect all the peripherics that a laptop has and the tablet doesn't:
- USB HDD
- USB drive/card reader
- keyboard/mouse
- DVD drive
- wired ethernet port
I couldn't do w/out an USB port and it was a major bummer for me when tablets became so thin that full USB port disappeared from them.
Thankfully USB OTG started working correctly on most of them.
I see, it makes sense, but wouldn't the USB flap be an obstacle?
That's why I said I would like to build just a connector not a craddle. Something that attaches where the pins are, but it's small and doesn't cover the USB port.
