Help with ICS e-mail client

Hi everyone,

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I'm having a bit of trouble with my ICS e-mail which I use for work. Work are being unhelpful and saying it's the phone that needs updating/replacing etc.

The problem I'm having is that the account works fine, pulls through e-mails displays contacts, etc. The problem lies with this yellow banner that appears saying that it can not connect to the server. This happens randomly, when I'm connected through mobile data or WiFi, early morning and late at night. There seems to be no reason. The only way to ensure it works is to delete the account and re-add it.

Like I say this is hit and miss - can anyone offer any advice.

I've checked the settings, and these seem to be all fine (unless I'm missing something).

Thanks

The problems seems to be intermittent so I would suggest that you raise this with your IT department. I don't think that it's related to settings or connection since your able to get connection sometimes and you have tried using both 3G and Wi-Fi connection.

I am having the same problem, it spontaneously comes up with the yellow banner.

Whether on wifi or mobile data, one minute working fine, then view a couple of emails, then it comes up again.

Slightly annoying as this only appeared after ICS update. Is there anyway I can go back to Gingerbread?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Please inform your IT department that they will need to have the following enabled on their Exchange Server.

  • Exchange ActiveSync

On their Active Directory server, they will need to have the following enabled for your user account

  • Child inherits permissions from parent.

A company I previously worked for had similar issues, and we found this to be our fix.
This was tested on Android versions 2.2, 2.3.7, 4.0.4 and 4.2.1.
