Help Understanding XPERIA E3 Memory/ Storage structure

Hi, i am first time user of Androide device, my device is xperia e3 single sim d2202, in setting > apps > device memory it is showing 509 used and 1.2 gb free, and in setting > apps > on sd card,      it is showing 511 mb used 1.2 gb free, which is almost same as device memory, i have 8 gb sd card in my fone, i was expecting that in setting > apps > on sd card it will show my full memory avalible on sd card i.e 8 gb, but it is showing only 2 gb on sd card , please explane what logic is this.

There's a new update but you have to wait for it to be approved and released in your country/region

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/phones/xperia-e3/

Latest available software

You may already have the latest software, depending on the date of purchase. Software updates are released at different times depending on operator and/or country. Therefore, we cannot give you an exact date for when a specific update will be available for your device.

Android version: Google Android 4.4 (Kitkat)

Latest available software: 18.4.C.1.29

Release started: 2014-09-26

ok so what exactly are you trying to say that this is problem due to current build version ?? is this s normal behaviour of software which i am facing???

i am repasting my query

" in setting > apps > device memory it is showing 509 used and 1.2 gb free, and in setting > apps > on sd card, it is showing 511 mb used 1.2 gb free, which is almost same as device memory, i have 8 gb sd card in my phone, i was expecting that in setting > apps > on sd card it will show my full memory available on SD card i.e. 8 gb, but it is showing only 2 gb on sd card , please explain what logic is this."

i just want to know that what memory it is showing down their is it showing device memory on sd card ??

i had just visited one mobile repair shop he told me that in xperia e3 you will not see the sd card memory description on setting > apps > on sd card- he said there you will only see the device memory level and the apps on sd card which you have moved. Was he was correct??
Sorry if I am frustrating.

That seems to be a bug, you could contact Sony directly

BUG !!! You know “uliwooly” this word is nightmare for me, I am extremely new landed in the world of android, and my first encounter is with “software bug” so unfortunate for me isn’t it ?

As you are saying to contact support directly I had already mailed before opening this thread, its three days there is no reply. And on phone number they don’t know about this issue.

Please guide if there is anything that I myself can do to get ride of this bug some manual flashing or some thing.

One thing more I have to say that, while exploring the thread I had come accrose one more user with the same problem here is the link http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-E3-E3-Dual/Xperia-E3-Not-able-to-move-apps-from-internal-memory...

Yes you could flash your phone, just download the correct FTF file and flashtool.
