help, it won't turn on

My x10 won't turn on. Everytime i hold the on/off button the screen lights up then goes out. i'm not sure what's wrong with it please help?

http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/ Make sure the battery is charged and then run the update service on it, as the phone has to be switched off anyway for this process.
