I have just bought the xperia sola and find it to be pretty good, value for money smartphone. However, I have two main gripes and I believe both have been a problem since the very first day Xperia Sola was launched.
1. The problem with CTIA and OMTP standards. It is unfortunate that Sony decided to change from OMTP to CTIA standard with the latest range of NXT smartphones. Many of us have OMTP headphones. I tried using a conversion cable but my Sola does not recognize the cable as an accessory. Can Sony please design a conversion cable WHICH WORKS with the NXT range of smartphones????
2. When I am listening to the music player or a radio app (TuneIn Radio), I am unable to hear the ringtone or answer any calls. This is so even when I am using the headphones which came with my Sola. Worse, I cannot even unplug the headphone and answer the call. I have to restart the smartphone in order to make any calls. I am shocked to note that this problem has been around since Xperia Sola was launched and until now, SONY HAS NOT FIXED THIS PROBLEM.
Other nagging problems with the Xperia Sola :
1. Battery life is disappointing.
2. ICS has been replaced by JB but Sony has not even rolled out ICS for all its smartphones. Samsung is already providing JB out of the box!!!
3. The call in volume is too low.
I have always loved Sony products but I am really disappointed by Sony's failure to solve the bugs in its range of smartphones and failure to keep up with the rest of its competitors.
We actually have a conversion adapter launched on the market for the OMTP to CTIA-issue called Sony EC250. Check it out!
Concerning your second question it sounds like it would be wise to try performing a repair of your phone's software.
You can easily perform the interaction with our program Sony PC Companion, available for download from the link below.
