Headphone-plug Error + Device gets hot

Hi all,

Since the new update I have issues with the headphone plug of my xperia Z. I never had problems before. The issue is that sometimes the phone does not reconises the headphone-jack that is plugged in. And when I try it again, it works. Sometimes it does work without a problem and the other time it doesn't work. A few friends of mine are having the same problem with their Xperia Z, and it all started after the update. Any here who has the same problem?

Now my other problem is that my device gets extremely hot on random moments. For example when I open my text messages or when I am having a call. One time the temperature stays normal and the other time it gets so hot that it almost hurt. Other people  that I know are not having this problem. Sure it gets hot when playing games etc. but when listening to music or during a call, I doubt if that is normal.

I got the phone the before it was officialy released (in the Netherlands). It is already repaired once by Sony because my device went off and it wouldn't turn on under any circumstance. I hope someone can help me or give me more information, because I thought that the Xperia Z was an high end smartphone but now I think of it as a phone with problems.

I think there's a more modern standard being used in the Xperia Z's 3.5mm audio port.

For example, the headphones for the Xperia Arc are not compatible with the Xperia Z - because they're 2 different standards.

This has rendered a lot of my other sets of headphones useless, much to my disappointment. Frustrating that the Arc headphones don't work with the Z, as they are of a much better quality in many ways.

It'll get hot the more you use it, or if you have data/wifi/bluetooth turned on, with the screen running, playing a game... that's pretty natural with modern phones... As long as it doesn't explode or electrocute you, you should be fine.

wifi, bluetooth and data are huge battery killers on this... I swear I'd get 5 days out of this handset with all of those turned off... with them turned on, you're lucky to get 10 hours.

my tip, keep your data turned off unless you need it. turn off auto-sync and all those crap things. use the internet on your own time, don't let the internet use you!

The problem with the audio port is (I think/assume) not a hardware problem. With my phone I got the Sony MDR headphones, it worked without problems before the 4.2.2 update and now it has problems. Not only with my MDR but with all my headphones/earplugs/speakers.

And the temperature is a weird problem if you ask me, it seems to me the phone cooling system is not working right.

I am facing the same issues dear friend. Moreover before the 4.2.2 update the 3.5 mm Jack used to recognise car aux music system, 2 way splitter which enabled 2 headphones to be connected to one phone. However I am facing serious problems now. Might even consider changing my phone if there isn't any other solution.

I'm not aware of any changes being made in the the latest software update in regards of the 3,5mm jack. So I therefore suggest that both you ltkort and CRK contact your local support teams to have this checked at a repair center.
