Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Could you please elaborate? How do you mean that it does not work. Do you get any error message when you connect your headset/headphone? Or do you not hear anything when the headset/headphone is connected to the phone?

I suggest that you try to clear data for Smart Connect via Settings > Apps > The tab "All" > Smart Connect > Clear data. Otherwise, have you tried to connect another pair of headphone to see if you experience the same behaviour?

Sound continues to play through the phone speakers when I plug headphones in. It works for a while when I first turn my phone on, or restart it. But as soon as I unplug my headphones and then later try to use them again, they don't work.
I tried multiple headphones. None work.
I tried clearing smart connect. Didn't help.
I've had the phone for 1.5 years with no problem. Now suddenly I have this headphone jack issue.
Is there a permanent fix for this problem now?

I have the same problem. I think the last update screwed things up. Dont you guys test your stuff before shipping? This phone (Z1) have been full of issues since day one! Cameras autofocus dont work sometimes, suddenly laggy phone, cant remove screen protector without phone getting **bleep**, need to use FILM on FILM if you want to protect from scratches. I could add several more things...

But now... another phone-breaking bug.. If the phone has been off for like 20 mins and i start it and wait for everything to start up, i make sure to be on the appscreen and plug headset it works... Then next time i plug in headset... NOTHING.. restarting phone dont help, resting settings nor anytning... I have to shut down the phone and redo the procedure.

Really, this **bleep** feels like som alpha testing device not meant to be shipped. you get 1/10

Try performing a PC Companion phone repair, this will do a clean installation of the latest firmware and will also wipe your internal memory, should smoothen your phone experience.

Open PC companion -> Support zone -> Phone/tablet software update -> Repair my phone/tablet (blue link style). Follow the steps given, do not connect your phone until prompted to press volume down while plugging USB cable.
