headphone jack not working after update

This is the 2nd Xperia z3 compact that I have owned. The first that I owned was stolen back in May 2015.

I am now facing a similar issue to what I faced before in the 1st Xperia z3 compact that I bought.

I've recently installed some android update. Now my music tends to stop playing suddenly if I use my headphones. Also, I am not able to use the headphones provided as a handsfree set when talking because I will need to adjust it so that it works as the sound doesn't transmit through the headphones. My headphones are working - i've tested it on my laptop and a separate Sony mobile phone and they are working.

Like I said, I encountered this issue with the first xperia z3 compact that i bought back in November 2014.  Can you please advise urgently.

Hi @llyl

I suggest to try booting your device into safe mode and check if this issue disappears:

I'm at disposal for any question.

Hi llyl, welcome to the community!

Good suggestion from xavinux there.

If the issue was not present in Safe Mode, that indicates a third party app is causing the issue. In this case exit Safe Mode and then un-install any third party apps you don't need and clear the cache/data for the apps you want to keep. If this doesn't help or you have found that the issue was still present in Safe Mode - you will need to run a software repair on the device.

Hi @llyl

I suggest you to first run a backup of the device information as explained here. Then try performing a system repair using PC Companion or Bridge for MAC. The process will erase all internal memory. You might need to charge your device for about 1-2 hours before so the device has at least 80% battery. Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds) Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process. If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP. Please keep us updated. I'm at disposal for any question.
