headphone jack not waterproof

I was among the first people to get the xperia z2 in the united arab emirates. The headphone jack was fully working until I started submerging the phone in water. All the flaps were fully closed and I submerged it in a swimming pool for small periods of time, around 5 minutes. After that incident, whenever I connect a headphone to the phone, the phone would show no reaction, and sound will start playing from the speakers. Do you guys know what hapened? And what can I do to overcome this?

did the jack hole dried from water? If not sure try cleaning with clinic stix like used to clean ears or so.
When the jack hole is broken there can be seen a moisture in the camera, also you should see the screen light in the hole in dark. If not the jack is probably sealed well, but water inside can malfunction the ear phones. Try to blow with air in the jack port to see if any water will came out (can be done with mouth, or gently with a small power modelling compressor).

Im sure it dried out from water .. This incident was about 24 hours ago and I live in a hot country .. The camera doesnt have moisture but I can see the screen light from the hole .. I got the phone 5 days ago and I see no reason for the seal to be broken.. The only reason I can see is that my unit had a defect .. I dunno how can sony do this, I paid a fortune to get the phone and the seal broke after the first water submerging incident.. What do I do now?

Considering what chemicals are in swimming pools and the warranty clearly says fresh water only then it may be possible that a reaction to the chemicals has taken place

Snap away underwater

With the waterproof Xperia Z2, you can take pictures with the best phone camera while swimming in freshwater for up to 30 minutes. You can even dive up to 1.5 metres with it. Just remember that all the covers for the micro USB port, the micro SIM slot and the memory card slot must be firmly closed.

I used to see a light through the hole before swimming in the pool.. But I thought it was something normal .. Back then I only used 100% fresh water(tap water) just to wash the phone , didnt submerge it even. Im sure that no chemicals were in the tap water when I washed the phone.. What do u guys say I do ?

You said and I quote "All the flaps were fully closed and I submerged it in a swimming pool for small periods of time, around 5 minutes." now your saying you didn't - You could contact Sony care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/ or take it back to the place of purchase

I said I did submerge it in the pool yea .. But I could see the screen light from the hole before that. Knowing that I only used tap water before the pool. I thought it was normal. So the seal breaking wasn't a result of the chemicals of the pool, it seems to have broken to fresh water

As above you could contact Sony care http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/ or take it back to the place of purchase - These are your only options or try to let it dry fully before re-testing

The headphones started working suddenly now .. Do I still need to care about the issue?

If it's working then it probably just needed to be fully dry to make a stable connection - I'd monitor this making sure that it is fully dry before pluging head phones in
