My HBH DS980 bluetooth earbuds worked fine with my iPhone until I upgraded to ios 5.0, and now I have problems.
1) When a call hangs up, the bluetooth disconnects and I have to reconnect it. And if another call should happen to come in just after the disconnect, there is no way (that I can figure out) to accept that call, either through the HBH DS980 or through the iPhone itself.
2) Also, with ios 5, the bluetooth powers down after about 8 seconds, and then takes 1 to 2 seconds to power back up when audio is again sent to it. Very frustrating for intemittent listening, like with my GPS app on the iPhone. I always miss the first second or two of the instructions unless I have music playing in the background in order to keep the bluetooth active.
Both of these problems started occuring after I upgraded to ios 5. ios 4 worked fine.
Is there a firmware upgrade available for the HBH DS980 that is compatible with ios 5?
Or is there a more modern earbud headset similar to the HBH DS980 that works with ios 5 that I should buy instead?

Seems to me that something must have changed in the new phone software.
There is no software update for the headset unfortunately. I think that you'll have to check this with Apple to see if there is any solution available or app that could fix this.
About buying a new headset check compatible lists to ensure that it works fully with your phone and latest software.
