I'm unable to use "guest mode" on my Z3TC like I do on my others devices (Motorola Moto X for instance)
On the tablet, it requires "Sign in or create a Google account":
I find that the requirement of signing to Google account to access guest mode makes it not really appropriate for that usage ("guest") and make it pretty useless
I don't have this device to test it but if you add a Guest account > it will switch to configuring the guest account > it shouldn't request a google account unless the guest user is trying to download an app.
I can't see the screenshot until it gets approved by a moderator

That's precisely my problem: on my device signing on to Google *is* required to go further with the guest account setup.
The displayed text is:
"Sign in or create a Google account. With the Google account you can download apps on
Google Play" and use other Google services such as Gmail"
and the right arrow is greyed apparently waiting for the Google account sign in to be completed.
Does it allow you to skip? could you upload the screenshot to box or dropbox or drive and post the link here?

Just tested on my wife Xperia Z, I have the same issue
Could it be specific to all Sony devices?

Have been able to test on any other Xperia model? What's the result?
I have tested this with other accounts and I'm not asked to enter a Gmail account

May I ask which device models and Android version?
Tested on a Xperia Z5 and Z5 premium and a Z3. I did noticed that on the Z3 you were required to enter a Gmail but I was able to bypass it by just pressing home multiple times and I didn't had to enter a Gmail account at all.
