Hi,
I'm facing a very peculiar problem.
I bought Xperia S 3 days ago and upgrded to Andriod 4.0.4 right away at the local Sony service center.
Now I can browse the Internet and access all the widgets like weather, browser, facebook, twitter, gmaps, latitude etc, however, messaging applications like gtalk/whatsapp/skype do not work. I can login to gtalk but everything is grayed out. In skype and whatsapp, I can't even login!!
I have rebooted the phone several times and have even uninstalled/reinstalled skype and whatsapp from google play but still cannot get them to work.
Any inputs would be appreciated before I go to the service center again.
Repair your phone's software using Sony update service then do a factory reset , it should help
Hi,
Thanks for the suggestion! I'll certainly try it and let you know.
Thanks for posting and welcome to the forum!
Since you mention you've bought an "S3" I don't think your really in the correct forum. This is a forum for Sony Mobile / Sony Ericsson phones, and it sounds like you have one from another producer?

Hi Petter,
It's an Xperia S, bought 3 days ago...
I did try to repair using the sony update service and it looks promising so far. I'm able to login to gtalk and whatsapp!! Yay!!
Having said that, I have'nt got time to really explore and see if everything else is working without a hitch. Would you recommend I also do a factory reset at this point?
If you want my opinion I would recommend to do a factory reset because it helped alot of ppl to solve their phones problems
Thanks to all for their suggestions.
I have got 99% of things working now. Only timescape does not work. It's not updating tweets and fb status, but I guess I can live with that!
