Dear Sony,
I, like many others, am a fan of dark wallpapers. Either completely black (with some details) or very dark with a slightly lighter pattern or eye catching objects. It was a bit dismaying to see the medium gray navigation and status bars.
The tone of gray in question does not lend well to such wallpapers. It takes the "center stage" over the wallpapers. This is particularly true for the statusbar on the top, it should definitely be many shades darker, if not black, or have a fade out effect from a dark gray to black to separate wallpaper from bar (I suppose this is why its so distinctly gray in the first place). The gray looks ok for very light grayscale wallpapers, but still looks a bit off and the eyes shouldn't be drawn to it to such an extent. For medium bright colorful wallpapers, the result becomes rather washed out. It also makes the screen look smaller/shorter.
The phone's exterior is dark and classy, so it would look good if the screen mimicked the minimalist black design.
I know people have already "solved" this and other visual stuff by rooting their phones, but I don't want to do that.
Here are some examples, with some suggestions i did myself to the right. Keep in mind that the original gray bars look even lighter on the actual device than in the pictures.
For these following examples, the gray bars create what i feel is a very washed out/faded effect that steals your attention, again particularly true for the status bar on top.
With a completely black wallpaper (one of my favorites with simple stars) the bottom navigation bar could be a dark gray since it creates a nice little shelf with the already light gray iconbar, but a darker/black status bar would really do the trick here.
Post if you agree... and do forward this to feedback team if you can, moderators.
I agree
I agree, also it will be a great idea to implement other colors/allow users to change the color and/or even a translucent bar.
Hell yes I totally agree with you.....that grey looks sh*t!
The gray is alright through the settings menus but definately no good for the status bar and capacitive button bar
Would love having the W7 (desktop) taskbar options: color intensity and enable transparency.
