GPS slow to fix

This last week my Xperia V has been serviced due to exessively slow GPS-positioning.

I've used GPS status Pro from MobiWIA - EclipSim to check out the reception and time to fix when using the GPS. At the moment it takes approx 3mins for it to acquire a position and then it still shows a margin of error of 100m or more for yet some time.

I like using the GPS for training apps such as RunKeeper or Zombies, run, etc. Currently this turns into a nuiscance since it takes forever to acquire a fix and by then the apps have timed out. It's not right, and it's not the way it worked when the phone was new (4 months ago). The problem has appeared some time during the last 6 weeks.

Supposedly the GPS reciever has been swapped. The service slip doesn't however specify. It merely says "repair of physical parts".

I've tried purging the A-GPS data. I've tried rebooting, repairing the software. Nothing seems to improve this condition.

I use GPS status Pro in my old Android-phones as well and Usually have a fix within a minute (90s if it's been a while). The bars representing signal strength are also significantly taller.

And just to clarify, I do all my testing outdoors free from obsruction.

What am I doing wrong?

It doesn't sound like you've done anything wrong actually. This does indeed sound like some hardware defect. Unfortunately the only way to get it fixed is to send it back to service.

Did you change the gps hardware a second time?
Did that solve the problem?
