I am having a problem with GPS on Tipo Dual. While the GPS itself works without issues, all apps relying on it fail to "rouse" it. Whether it's navigation apps, geo-tagging, or even Google maps, they cannot trigger GPS to find the position. No matter if only one or all three boxes are checked in Position Settings menu. The only way for apps to work is to turn the GPS off, then on and immediately start the app that needs the GPS. As soon as the satellite icon disappears, no app can trigger it again. GPS test shows the GPS is on but no satellites visible. Any ideas on this issue?
OK - this IS a support forum, isn't it? Isn't someone supposed to help?
Does the GPS work if you try it with the app called GPS test (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chartcross.gpstest)?
Have you also tried to update the software in your phone? You can do that from http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/phones/xperia-tipo-dual/.
Hello. Thank you for your answer.
GPS Test works as any other app - immediately after GPS is turned on, it shows satellites and map position, everything is working fine. After some time, it sees no satellites at all, as if there weren't any.
I already have the latest software. I checked.
Well that sounds strange. If the app called GPS Test can trigger the GPS then any other app is able to as well. If a 3:rd party app doesn't work it might be a problem in that app but as even Google Maps doesn't work i suggest you make a repair of the phones software using PC Companion. Start it without connecting the phone and go to Support zone -> Software update -> repair. Please note that this will delete all data in your phone.
Just to clarify - not even GPS Test app can trigger the GPS. It works only when I turn the GPS on and immediately open GPS Test or any other app.
I suggest that you make a repair of the phones software and see if that helps. Also try the GPS with Maps before you install any other apps in the phone.
OK, so I repaired software with SUS. It's working now with Google maps/navigation. We'll se about other apps.
