Hello Sony and other users
If updated my Neo last week from the stock firmware to 2.3.3 build 4.0.A.2.368.
After that I have issues with GPS signal (DOP). Programs like RunGPS, Google Maps and Navigon loses GPS signal exactly every 5 minutes für about 30 seconds. After that, the DOP is good again. Sometimes it helps to restart the phone, sometimes not. I've tried to find out if it depends, which programs are in the memory but nothing is really obvious.
The issue looks like this:
Yesterday I've updated to 2.3.4 4.0.2.A.0.42, but the issue is the same. I've read in another forum that sometimes an update of Googe maps could cause this problem. So I've deinstalled the last update of Goggle maps. Before that I had this issue, directly after that it was gone, but it came back although I did not install the update of googe maps again (Auto update was disabled).
Before the firmware updates I did not have this issues.
What can I do? Are there some log files, which can help? Any idea?
With this issue the GPS is not really usable. Is it possible to downgrade?
Thanks
Sorry, but I got a problem. After I update my Xperia Active on ICS. There is a GPS bug, sometimes, very offten. When I start GPS in some aplication (for example Geocaching for Locus Free, or C:geo) I see satelites, but my gps signal is still zero degrees, zero minutes and zero seconds. I swap gps help data, it doesn´t help. Only restart of xperia active could help. Where is a problem. What U did mister Comrades? I think that Sony developers got a problem and they don´t know make a phone. Take honor to a work and give to work a peace.
I have the similar issue after ICS upgrade. The GPS is almost not working. I have no issue prior to upgrade. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONY ?????????

Sony Ericsson Live with WalkMan
Android Version 4.0.4
Build Number 4.1.B.0.431
I used to be loyal cutomer of Sony. But this experiece is ruined it. If I will no heard from Sony soon, this will be my last device by Sony.
I solved this problem with check and choose all of three possibilities in location services. A specially google maps, wifi and gps. It help me. But gps must find satelites and show gps position without internet options.
You must wait, Sony preparing new update for android mobiles from 2011.
Hi AtifGulzar,
What kind of problems do you see?
Don't you get a GPS fix at all or does the GPS receiver lose the fix after a while?
Do you have a data connection available while using the GPS?
We haven't received any reports of the problem originally reported in this thread after the ICS upgrade so we believe that it's fixed.
Try removing the cached assistance data and see if it helps:
1. Settings -> Location services
2. Make sure "GPS satellites" is enabled
3. Open the dialer and enter *#*#7378423#*#*
4. Service tests -> GPS -> Purge assistance data
5. Restart the phone
Now try the GPS receiver again and see if it works better.

Sorry, Oscar. But this doesn´t help. Only restart of phone could only help. But it is not a solution.
Hello Oskar,
I recently bought Xperia Play from Rogers Canada. Its updated to android 2.3.4 with build number 4.0.2.A.0.42
I am having issues with the GPS. It doesnt seem to work at all. When connected to wifi, it shows me right location, but apart from that it never works (GPS and data enabled and vice versa with all combinations).
I tried the code you posted above *#*#7378423#*#* with GPS enabled and i got into GPS testing, but it never stops and just keeps running without any results.
Also i tried various apps like the GPS altimeter, GPS test, GPS status but nobody shows any information about latitude or longitude. Attached are the images from the various apps and the Selfservice Test->GPS->GPS Location Test. Seems to me the compass and accelerometer works fine but the GPS doesn't.
Please let me know if you think this is a software bug (or if hardware problem) and what should be done ?
Thanks,
Srikanth
Thanks Oskar-GPS
My GPS never get fixed. I have satellite icon in my notification bar which keep saying searching for GPS.
No luck even after the steps you have mentioned
Is there any plans by sony to provide JellyBeen update ?
Thanks again
Atif
Hi AtifGulzar, srikanthviit and ziakrado,
Try this:
1. Enable GPS in the settings menu
2. Purge assistance data in the service menu (*#*#7378423#*#*)
3. Restart the phone
4. Go outdoors (not only hold the phone by the window)
5. Start the GPS Test application from Google Play
6. Wait for a few minutes and make sure that the screen is not turned off. Don't move around too much. If you move it will be harder for the GPS to find the satellite signals. If the screen turns off the GPS receiver is turned off as well.
If you still don't get a GPS fix, then go to the service center and let them know that there is a problem with the GPS. Please also tell them what tests you've done.
