GPS issue

So I've followed what's listed in this post in detail a couple of times and double and triple checked all settings, and I still can't get a GPS-fix in neither Endomondo nor GPS Status. Google Maps locates my position though. What on earth can it be? What can I have overlooked?

I have the same problem after three months use

I restored the software but the problem persists, it's very annoying.

I talked to sony phone support and they told me that it was a problem with google's satellites. I'm thinking of selling it and buy an htc instead

If this is so, all android phone will hsve the same problem? I did a test with my friend Z1 side by side, he didn't have any problem at all. Its either the GPS chip in z3c has problem, or the firmware...

Since my GPS issues weren't solved after returning it to the shop where I bought it from, I decided to go back to the shop and show them what the issue was first hand. However, when I was trying to demonstrate the issue, the GPS suddenly worked more or less (at least I got a fix), so I made a kind of a fool of myself...?

Later that day I tried again, and again the next days, and except for the one time at the shop, the GPS can't get a fix... 😞

Is there a kind of an app that can log the gps activity on my phone, so I can send that as a report to Sony?

I updated to the newest firmware (23.1.A.0.690), factory reset, reset customizations, purged assistance data and still no luck.  I'dont know what else to try. I think it is a physical problem with the gps chip

i have had my sony z3 compact for just over 5 months...   after the 3rd month my gps stoped working. i have tried litereally everything 

to try and fix it. i took everyones advice and tried your ideas . still nothing . i have the exteneded warranty.  As sony doesnt provide a loaner phone when mines getting fixed im reluctant to send it in.  Shouldnt there be a recall or something. Why isnt sony stepping up and doing something

 cant use gps navigtion in waze or maps i tried factory reset and flashing the newset rom and nothing helps

anyone know how to fix it ?

SOLUTION TO THE GPS ISSUE (GPS not turning off, GPS draining battery, GPS running in background)

This is what i observed after many trials with my google map app and location setting.

1. open google maps.
2. Go to seetings>location>turn it on    (Do not turn on the location from the Quick settings bar)
3. continue using your googlle maps app.
4. Close the app when you are done.
5. Go back to settings and turn the location to OFF. (Do not turn off the location from the Quick settings bar)

I think this is a problem with the location shortcut in the quick setting bar.

I too have the same issue of the GPS not locking in and tracking. I am using Endomondo; Runtastic; Strave. Sometimes after i restart it works for one track and then stops tracking again. I noticed this as an issue in the last 2 weeks. Most certainly since the full platform update the GPS tracking is not working in any of the programmes for my fitness tracking; i have to say i always activate it outside my home and i am in clear open spaces with not many high rising buildings and trees and i can't seem to get a lock.

hi clintEW; i tried what you have suggested and it still does not track gps wise; i tried infact all the suggestions apart from resetting to factory settings; as i said the issue is more prominent since the Z3 had the full platform update.
