Can i have access to my music? Or am I stuck playing it on google play? Or even worse yet do you need a rooted phone to be able to access my Google play music?

google does not give you instructions on how to retrieve music from your own phone -- so after looking into the settings of google play, there is an option that lets you obscurely retrieve the music. In order to do so, you must set that setting to keeping the music on device to your external sd card. Otherwise, you will need to root your phone to access the data via internal memory. Hope this helps anyone trying to fish out your google play music. Now I can finally play it on my walkman play list

How exactly do you retrieve the Music? ....I dont believe how hard this is.

Install google music manager on a computer, download Google music to comp,transfer to phone. Bobs ya muckle.
