Google Maps navigation guidance voice quality

On my Xperia Mini, the default voice for navigation guidance in Google Maps is rather low quality.

From time to time, for a few seconds, it uses a higher-quality voice.

Is there any way to make it use the high-quality voice all the time?

Does other audio sound good in the phone? Is the quality if you for example stream music constant or is this isolated to just the Maps navigation?

Other audio sounds just fine. It's only the voice navigation in Google Maps. Every once in a while it decides to speak in a high-quality voice, but only for a few seconds, then it reverts to the standard one.
