Google Labs(beta testing) and other NOVEL apps to share.

Hi,

Gesture Search from Google labs is a novel way of interacting with your phone's contacts/music/apps/bookmarks.

Google are using their labs to invoke discussion before they release the apps fully sorted.

There are other apps that show the true flexibility of the android platform and this thread is intended to discuss and share them.

please put up your best offerings for NOVEL apps and keep an eye out for new Google labs products to discuss and please...no crappy gimmicks.

i'm trying ADW as well at the moment, at start up you have to choose which APP you want to load up, gives you options i suppose but not sure if i'll keep both. havn't seen an option for selecting individual screens, just the flick through, left or right from center screen.

thats all the practical ones i've got that havn't been mentioned already. Lookout seems fine, scans all downloads and does have back-up and phone finder all in the APP. i'd imagine AV APPS will all be much the same better with, than without just incase.

bluebobx,

to get a list of recentlyh used apps hold down the centre key onthe xperia

to get a list of screens on ADW to choose between just hit the home key like before except instead of it taking you to the centre screen, it sets up a preview of up to 7 screens that you select from your screen.

another good thing is that either side of the matrix icon in the centre of the bottom of the screen, is an application of your choice that is reachable no matter which of the 4 5 6 or 7 screens you decide you want to have.

of course you'll have to go to settings 'menu' key to activate these things.. like the galaxy style menu etc...

I activated every thing in ADW then removed any I did not like...

incidentally I have removed moxier mail from startup.

I used startup manager which not only lets you remove apps from user and system startup lists but remembers them so you can reintroduce them if you decide later.

moreover you can add your own custom apps to startup lists that the system does not do by default.

I discovered that I had some apps listed twice which is a bit of a worry ...like messaging... perhaps they were running in forked processes..who knows.

anyway in that case I just removed one of the entries.

darkmax,

I've managed to remove moxier mail from my startup and a few other's that I never use...

I found out I had 2 messaging processes running...or is that activities..

anyway I removed one of them from startup because they may have been causing probs in contention...though the way android works I think each fork has its own copies yes ??
