Gmail and Google play problem on Xperia S

Recently I bought Sony Xperia S and tried to use the internet. Gmail and google play store doesnot work. It is difficult for me to access my emails and download new applications. I tried to creat google account and it takes long time saying just checking availability, your phone is contacting Google to see if your desired username is available. After waiting long time it says not successfull, may be your phone is not personalised for google services. I can't understand why? I have no problem when I useGmail on my laptop. I used the same email address and password I use on my laptop.The only application that runs is facebook. Please assist me to solve this problem.

connect ur phone to ur laptop, open pc companion, on top left it will say your phone is upto date (or provide an option to update phone). Hit that link and perform full repair of the phone, that should fix the issue.

Thanks for your tip however I performed a full repair of the phone as per yourrecommendation but the problem is not solved. it is even worse now as I can't connect completely to internet throygh the phone. previously the problem was Gmail and google play store and other google related services others were working like facebook, yahoo, etc.

Does your Internet connection work when you browse the Internet? So that is isn't the Internet connection that is the cause of the problem.

You could also try to connect to the Internet via Wi-fi to try it out.

if you are accessing net over 3G, is ur APN correctly configured? Last time I ran repair service, it messed up my APN and I had to manually fix it.

Hi Petter

No problem with the internet connection, the google browser connects. The proble now is after I performed full repair of the phone I cannot add my google account on my Sony xperia S, say checking availability, your phone is contacting google. But practically nothing happens.

I am however able to log on to my face book and gmail account on my PC. any help.
