Generic Hierarchical File System

Generic Hierarchical File System

Hey all,

I noticed that the file system for my Arc ( and for the entire SE smartphone lineup for that matter ) is Generic Hierarchical... thus I wonder, if I have a memory card of 32 Gb, can my device support a one-file transfer exceeding 4 Gb?

I know for a fact that FAT32 systems do not support any type of one-file transfer in excess of 4 Gb, only NTFS systems do...

Anyone with deeper knowledge regarding this issue, please advise...I'd really appreciate the effort.

Cheers,

Kenny

For the memory card to be supported by a device it would need to be formatted to FAT32.

Apologies, but that reply seems rubbish. The OP has already said that his device is using the Generic Hierarchical File System.

I have just reformatted the SD card in my Sony phone and it has re-formatted to Generic Hierarchical File System from FAT32, so thet is obviously the devices PREFERED file system.
